It's that time of year!

The event that racers from different regions comment on while you're at one of their races.

The event that set the different regions around us and clubs against each other in a day filled with excitement of Class/PAX competition and elimination.

Those who have been last year, the plan is roughly the same; as i'm sure this post will be edited by Dan or Eric on new details, there are still some things to be worked out but lots of the details remain the same.

We are the current champions of this event!! But expect SCR to come back at full force, we cannot let this happen!

NORA SMACKDOWN CHALLENGE DETAILS

CHALLENGE FORMAT

– Normal challenge formats pit equal amounts of cars per class against one another for points. With numerous clubs, that gets tricky, so we’re going to score by LOWEST COMBINED TEAM PAX.

- Using standard SCCA PAX numbers, we’ll take The BEST 15 PAX times for EACH club, add them together, with the lowest combined PAX time winning outright. This will hopefully reward depth of club performance.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT

- Pre-reg is REQUIRED. if you register onsite it's an extra $5 dollars. Please visit the following link to register.

- Cost is $30 for NORA members / $35 for non-NORA. Having a NORA membership doesn’t prevent you from maintaining your other affiliations for the challenge event, but will just save you $$ when you run with us in the future!

- At this point, there is no registration cap, so bring the whole club. If necessary, we may cap each club at 50 participants

- The reg form will REQUIRE you to fill out a line stating your club affiliation

- Pre registration and pre-payment are available at Racerslane.com.
http://racerslane.com/clubs/NORA%20-%20 ... /events/16

LOCATION AND SCHEDULE

- Northfield Park is located approximately 15 minutes North of Akron or South of Cleveland on Rt. 8. It has the size to allow us to set it up for a BIG course.

Northfield Park Racetrack
10705 Northfield Road
Northfield, OH 44067

- Information regarding Northfield Park can be found here. http://www.northfieldpark.com

SCHEDULE
  • 7:00AM - Course Setup
  • 7:30 - 9:00 - Registration
  • 7:30 - 9:15 - Tech & Safety Inspection Held where GRID would be (Unless you have an Annual NORA Tech Sticker, ALL cars and helmets will be inspected... Please have your car cleaned out i.e. NO loose items, Helmet in Car, and your Numbers/Class Magnets on)
  • 8:00 - Course Open for Walking
  • 9:00 - Rookie/Beginner Course Walk
  • 9:30 - MANDATORY Drivers Meeting at the trailer (If you are not present during meeting you will be excluded.)
  • 10:00 - First Car Off
More details will be added so check this thread often, now get out there and smack down til you convinced them to come and try to beat us!

NO KARTS - Only cars!

Mark, not a problem. Just park in the normal paddock area. You can setup camp out. If you want, we can meet up the night before when you get in and have dinner or whatever. Lots of places to eat just down the road.

Thanks Eric! Sounds good, and is probably the plan even though we're closer than the rest of the SCR folks. I hate waking up early. :-)

My guess is we'll get there after dinner, but thanks for the offer anyway!

Anybody looking for a co-driver?

I would like to step out of the formula car for the weekend to let some new drivers get some seat time in it.

Will the PRO class be used this event? I see it being a class you can register for but we've never used the class the past 3 years we've done this event.

How about ladies classes then? I know they're not listed on there other than fspl (thanks again Justin), but they're not listed for other classes but are a valid scca class.

I'm sure they can accomodate you Ms. Biddle. Or at least split us up into 2 different run groups since my car at this point is 3 deep. If they can do it for the cheater civics I think they can do it for my overweight, underpowered dorito mobile.
If Autocrossing were any easier, they would call it 'Your Mom.'

The entire event is indexed. Ladies classes have the same index as the open classes. So there is no need for ladies classes at this event. But I am sure we can figure out something else for your situation.
